Sunday Mornings

I love Sunday Mornings. It’s really our only morning to chill as a family and many times we spend it drinking coffee and steeping ourselves in preparation for the next week. Today was extra sweet since it’s been a couple of weeks since Maizey could handle being outside with us.

a little stress here, but more happy face than stress face

The fireworks on the fourth were murder on her and I’ve been trying to give her as much of a cortisol vacation as I possibly could. (By the way do you read Paws Abilities blog? It’s worth not missing. Sara writes the posts I always want to write but never buckle down and do.) Minimizing the level of stimulation Maizey gets is a big key to her ability to recover from stressful events, and sometimes just the stimulation of being outside is too much for her.

There are dogs that can just shake off stress and move on and there are dogs like Maizey that take days to recover. Thankfully it’s taking her less and less time to recover and come back to where she can relax.

So relaxed her chin's on the ground and she has sleepy eyes? This is me doing the happy dance!

I’m continually thankful for Magnus as he’s as steady as can be and I’m sure thought the fireworks must be the most awesome thing ever since they got a free flow of treats, chews, attention and snuggles for the two and half hours they were exploding around us. He turns two in a couple of weeks and I just can not wrap my head around that.

So that’s our lazy Sunday morning, how about you? Do you have a favorite time of day with your pups?

Oh, I’m off to add Paw abilities to my google reader!  Thanks for sharing the link.

Sunday is my favorite day too…until about 7PM when I realize Sunday means the next day is Monday :)

I’m so lucky that Oreo doesn’t care about fireworks/thunder, but like Maizey, he needs time off to recover.  I’m so happy that Maizey was able to join you outside and Relax!  Good girl.

Saturday mornings we are usually at doggie-school and that’s always (mostly) a special time for us.    Glad we all survived the fireworks…this year they went on and on and on and…

Maisey had a coat just like Kodee – lush. So does that mean you have grooming nightmares sometimes? LOL I don’t really but her coat is a lot more work than Becky who’s coat is self care. Good thing because grooming Kodee is a 2 dog job. Kodee is fine with fireworks which is odd because she can get stressed at things. Now Becky who is my take anywhere companion is a bit bothered by noises. This yr I forgot about fireworks and headed out for a walk. OH OH got caught a good few blocks from the house. Oddly Becky looked at me once and i told her it was ok and she walked quickly home but other than that was fine. Kodee on the other hand was too busy eating sticks to give a hoot. OK sorry for the wall story on your blog!! LOL …. so August huh <3

Maizey is actually my easy groomer, even for toenails she just flops over upside down.LOL Magnus on the other hand. . . SIGH! He’s a full time job! I’m glad Becky didn’t have too hard of a time with fireworks, they are just a nightmare hear. Especially since we have them worse on the 24th with a Utah holiday. So yup to August. I haven’t made an official announcement here, but I’m ready to soon. I’d sure love to see you and meet your pups if you have time.:)
